
Dr. Mindaugas Milcius
Veterinarian
Dr. Milcius (AKA Minda) was born and raised in the suburbs of Kaunas Lithuania. Since childhood Minda has always been fascinated with animals and science. His interest in Veterinary Medicine began when he was in high school. He participated in many Biology science fairs, where he received 2nd and 3rd place awards. He began his animal studies at the Lithuanian Veterinary Academy in 1989 (during which time he met his wife Natalija) and received his DVM in 1994. He began his postgraduate studies the same year at the same institution researching small animal fungal diseases. He received his Masters degree in Veterinary Microbiology in 1996. From 1996- 2000 Minda worked at the Kaunas Veterinary Consulting Center as the senior veterinary dermatologist. His interests in dermatology led him to open Lithuania’s very first small animal dermatology clinic. In 2000, Minda traveled to Illinois for 1 month to receive further dermatology training at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Minda, along with his wife Natalija and first-born daughter Iveta moved from Lithuania to Canada in 2004. Shortly after moving he began his adventures with AVC. In addition to Marlborough he has worked at Calgary North, and the Interim CARE Center. Since moving Minda and his wife have had a second daughter named Erika, and adopted a Ball Python, many fish, a hamster as well as an Abyssinian cat. Minda loves the outdoors and loves to go fishing every chance he gets. He has a true passion for sports, music and travel. He has had the opportunity to travel most of Eastern Europe, Austria, the US, and Canada taking various courses and seminars. Minda has always loved animals and has a true desire to educate himself in order to provide the best quality of care to any animal that is presented to him. He is an extremely hard working and compassionate doctor, and we are very happy to have him as part of our team.
