Shannon Aranguiz
Animal Health Technologist

Shannon Aranguiz joined our team in July of 2005. She graduated the Animal Health Technology program at the NAIT/Fairview campus in March of 2005. After completing the Veterinary Technician National Exam in June, Shannon began her career as a Registered Animal Health Technologist.

Shannon is responsible for hospital admissions, nursing care, anesthetic procedures, dental cleaning, surgical preparation, laboratory procedures, nail trims, and client education. In order to remain on top of changing medicine, newly developed techniques, and new products Shannon regularly attends continuing education seminars.

Animals have always been an important part of Shannon’s life. She has had many dogs and cats. Though Shannon does not define herself as a “Cat person” she currently owns 4 cats.  Charles Brown Monkey lives here at the clinic and spends his day monitoring every move his mother makes. Francis Jerome Cortez, Floyd Johnny Appleseed and Jamilla Raine Farley live at home with her and her husband Curtis.

Shannon has a great love for animal rescue societies and in 2009 joined “Pawsitive Match Rescue” and “Wolf clan Rescue” as a volunteer foster. She has had the opportunity to help many dogs find forever homes and has even adopted 2 of her fosters. Bridgette Madelyn Willow (a Basenji/Cattle dog mix from NWT) and Ella Bella Fitzgerald (a pit-bull/cattle dog mix from Mexico) are the newest editions to her family.

Shannon is very happy to be in this career and plans on being here for a long while. As Shannon puts it, “How can you possibly have a bad day cuddling a purring cat, or getting kissed to death by a happy puppy?”. Shannon’s favorite part of working here is knowing that she has had a small part in helping animals live the best lives they can. “I can’t imagine doing anything else. This is what I was meant to do. This is were I am supposed to be, and I love it!”
